The great Royal College

Royal College is a young men school placed at Colombo 7.  The school was begun as a private school by Rev Joseph swamp in 1835. however the school was secured as Colombo Academy by Sir Robert Willimot Horton after an one year. The Royal College is the Sri Lanka's first government run optional school for young men.

Indeed today Royal College is the heading state funded school in Sri Lanka. The school was established in the British state funded school convention having being named as the Royal College Colombo in 1881 with Royal assent from Queen Victoria and it was one of the first schools to be designated as a national school by the Sri Lankan government in the 1980s. The people of the Royal College is ordinarily known as Royalists. the old young men are known as Old Royalists. The school is subsidized by the Ministry of Education, which selects its Principal. The Principal is the leader of the organization of the College and is aided by a Vice Principal. The school is partitioned into three segments: the grade school (the previous Royal College Preparatory School), center school and the upper school, each one going under a representative foremost (the leader of the elementary school is known as the Headmaster/headmistress). The school teaches near 9100 understudies in both auxiliary and essential instruction. Organization of the school lodging is done by the Warden under supervision of the Principal and is helped by a Sub-warden.
